H10 Puerta de Alcalá, Madrid

We recently stayed for three nights during our long weekend in Madrid. The hotel is in a nice and quiet area, just a few minutes walk from the nearest metro station (Principe de Vergara). It's really easy to get here from the airport - just get line 8 to Colombia and then change here onto line 9 to Principe De Vergara. The journey takes around 35 minutes. (Or it's around a 20 minutes Uber journey for 28). The metro has good links to everywhere in the city. Getting your ticket is relatively straight forward - you can get a multi card from the self service machines at the airport station and load it up for however long you require. We arrived around two hours before check in time but our room was ready and we were allowed to check in early free of charge which was much appreciated. The room itself was a really decent size for a city. The bed and the pillows were an absolute dream - seriously the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in!!! The room was well equipped, a TV, ample hangers, a safe, a mini fridge etc. The air con/heating was really good and it didn't take long at all to either cool down or heat up your room. We were in room 602 and our window was facing inwards into other sides of the hotel so the lighting we got in the room wasn't the best. The bathroom was again a good size and we had a shower over the bath. Could've done with a little bit of TLC in the sink where it was a little worn down and the shower where it was a bit grubby/maybe mouldy on the shower screen. But nothing too major. The rooftop area was a real highlight - it can get popular on Saturdays but they reserve an area for hotel guests which is really nice. Lovely to look out onto the city with a drink (very nice range of cocktails on offer!). There is also heaters for the chillier nights. The pool is a plunge one so understandably was closed during our stay (I believe it is open May - September). Overall, we were pleased with our stay and would recommend if you are looking for a good safe base for your trip.

First the less good. Went with 2 other couples. Had requested a double room on high floor. Got twin beds on the 2nd floor whilst one of our friends were on the 3rd floor and both others had large double beds. The beds in whatever form were comfy. Mould on the bath sealant was quite bad and shower screen leaked. Toilet dripped/overflowed ( into the toilet ) in the night. One pair of friends had turn down chocolates every night. we had them one night from 3 and the other friends none at all. Free bottle of water and decent standard coffee were replaced every day. The really good points of the hotel were at the top and bottom respectively. Breakfast was great - lots of variety both hot and cold and good quality. However one of our friends found a long hair in his scrambled egg one morning. Friendly welcome and helpful staff. The rooftop bar is excellent. Great food, drinks and Maria and Gregor were exceptionally friendly, attentive and efficient. The pulled pork tacos, cheese board and desserts were particularly good. Great view of the city and Retiro Park. Not overly expensive and we spent some time there every day in between or at the end of a busy schedule.

We stayed at H10 Puerta de Alcala for a business trip. We used one of their meeting rooms which was fully equipped and especially good as it had large windows looking out with lots of natural daylight. We had a group of 13, the staff and service were exceptional and we were really well looked after. I would highly recommend this venue for a holiday or business trip. The food and hospitality was also fantastic! everything was delicious, a great selection of finger foods for our lunches. We also dined in the restaurant and have no criticism at all. Natalia in particular was great, made the booking and changes etc so easy. Thank you- We will be back!

From the moment we arrived to when we checked out the hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was a good size, the bed very comfortable and a lovely sized bathroom. The breakfast was excellent as was the food on the rooftop terrace. I would highly recommend this perfectly situated hotel.
