Committed to responsible tourism

Stay Green is the H10 Hotels Sustainability Plan. In line with our commitment to society and the environment, its goal is to promote a model for responsible tourism in all our destinations.

The current project continues the strategy launched in 2010 and is based on four main lines of action for the period 2021-2030, following European and international guidelines and strategically defined in all areas of the company:

Reduced carbon footprint

With the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75%1

1 Based on 2010 indicators

  • 94%
of the electricity consumed in our establishments is from renewable sources

  • More than
    50%
of the hotels use renewable energy systems

  • Improving energy efficiency through the use of low-energy equipment and the control and automation of facilities

  • Selecting refrigerants with lower Global Warming Potential

  • Promoting green mobility by installing electric vehicle charging points in 24 hotels

Sustainable Water Management

We aim to reduce water consumption by 20%2 and minimise the impact of our activity on aquatic environments

2 Based on 2010 indicators

  • 19%
reduction in water consumption per stay thanks to water efficiency measures

  • Optimization of operational processes and cleaning protocols

  • Modernization of irrigation systems and the use of native plants adapted to the local climate, reducing water requirements in landscaping

  • We have
    13
    highly efficient own-consumption desalination plants

  • Reduced flow taps and showers in the chain's establishments

Responsible Consumption

We aim to reduce the volume of waste generated per stay by 25%3.

3 Based on 2021 indicators

  • Reduction of
    23 tonnes
of plastics thanks to replacing amenity single-use packaging with dispensers

  • Annual reduction of
    300 tonnes
of organic waste thanks to the implementation of artificial intelligence-based food waste control systems (Winnow)

  • Recycling and waste separation points in hotels

  • Lower consumption of electricity, water and fuel per stay

Social Commitment

Promoting social projects in local communities and promoting positive culture and learning among employees

Since 2016, the company has been working with the Albert Foundation, which, jointly with the Pere Tarrés Foundation, Cáritas and Hospital HM Nens de Barcelona, promotes the health and education of socially vulnerable children and their families.

More than 60 professionals and volunteers collaborate in this project, through which over 1,000 children and around one hundred families have been supported.

The activities that are carried out include:

  • Support for social initiatives helping people at risk of social exclusion to enter the labour market, financial donations and donations to social dining rooms

  • FASE Project: dental, ophthalmological, podiatry and osteopathy check-ups, as well as help with school work, summer camps and activity centres

Other joint projects

  • Cooperation with Sant Joan de Déu de Barcelona and its Hospital Amic programme to improve the experience of children in hospital

  • We cooperate with local non-profit organisations working on various projects to help developing countries

  • Helping families to enter the labour market by contracting them in hotels

  • At our Ocean Coral & Turquesa resort, we assist with the conservation of sea turtles by providing training for our staff and partners on the importance of protecting endangered species

Achievements 2024-2025

Over the past two years, we have made significant progress in our sustainability strategy, reaching key milestones that reinforce our commitment to the environment and local communities:

Environment

REDUCED CARBON FOOTPRINT

60% reduction in carbon footprint compared to 2010, a milestone certified by AENOR.

Commissioning of a 1,500 kW photovoltaic self-consumption plant at the Ocean Blue & Sand hotel (Dominican Republic), through an agreement with CEPM.

Securing NextGeneration Funds for the installation of 2,700 kW of photovoltaic panels in Spain and signing an agreement for another 1,500 kW facility at the Ocean El Faro hotel (Dominican Republic), with the goal of achieving an additional 15% in electricity self-consumption.

Renewal for the fourth consecutive year of the CO₂ Conformity Certificate awarded by AENOR, accrediting the calculation and verification of our carbon footprint in accordance with the GHG Protocol methodology, including Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

LESS FOOD WASTE

A 35% reduction in food waste, preventing the generation of more than 300 tonnes of organic waste. Thanks to the implementation of artificial intelligence systems (Winnow), we have optimised food production at several of our hotels in the Canary Islands and the Costa Blanca.

REDUCED PACKAGING

The consumption of 68 tonnes of single-use plastics per year has been reduced, from items such as amenities, cutlery, cups, or bottles made of this material.

MORE SUSTAINABLE BEACHES

Our resorts in Riviera Maya and Punta Cana have been Blue Flag certified, guaranteeing excellence in environmental management, safety, water quality and environmental education at our beaches.

Social
commitment

ALBERT FOUNDATION

In 2016, we created the Albert Foundation to support children, youth, and their families in socially vulnerable situations through socio-educational and health initiatives. The FASE project offers a multidisciplinary program that, in collaboration with other organizations, includes medical check-ups, academic support, and summer camps, promoting equal opportunities, comprehensive well-being, and autonomy.

JOB PLACEMENT

We maintain a firm and active commitment to the workplace inclusion of individuals at risk of social exclusion and those with various types of disabilities. With the goal of facilitating their integration into the workforce, we collaborate with local organizations such as the Esperanza Foundation (La Caixa), the Red Cross, Cáritas, Aura Fundació, and other social entities to offer them real employment opportunities and support their professional and personal development.

CHARITABLE DONATIONS

We collaborate with local entities such as the Fundació Joan Miró and donate food, furniture, and toys to disadvantaged communities, including the preparation of 6,240 annual meals for soup kitchens and biweekly deliveries to the Food Bank. We also offer complimentary stays to raise funds at charity events organized by Cáritas and the Red Cross. In addition, H10 Hotels staff actively contributes to various charitable causes, such as the SJD Magic Line and Hotel Games, among others.

CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

For eleven years, we have financially contributed to the Sant Joan de Déu Children's Hospital in Barcelona and its Hospital Amic program, which aims to improve the experience of hospitalized children through animal-assisted interventions that enhance the emotional well-being of patients and support their recovery during treatment.

GUNÉ FOUNDATION

We have been collaborating with the Fundació Guné for nearly fifteen years to promote female literacy and schooling for children in the Kolda region of Senegal. A new school is currently being built to improve access to quality education for over 560 students from 8 local communities. Furthermore, thanks to the support of H10 Hotels, in 2025, 200 women received training in reading, writing, health, and nutrition, which also facilitated access to education for their daughters.

Goals for 2026

Our roadmap for the near future focuses on concrete actions to continue improving both our environmental footprint and social impact.

Environment

MORE RENEWABLE ENERGY

Commissioning of 13 installations with over 7,000 solar photovoltaic panels across properties in the Canary Islands and Punta Cana. Co-financed by European NextGeneration funds for the hotels in the Canaries, this initiative will generate a total capacity of 4,200 kW. These installations will produce 15% of the electricity consumed by the 13 hotels, exceeding 30% in some of them.

SUSTAINABLE WATER MANAGEMENT

We will continue to expand the use of filtered water stations to improve water efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of transporting bottled water.

REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

We will keep implementing energy-efficient solutions in our hotels and resorts.

Responsible
consumption

SUSTAINABLE TEXTILES

We are renewing our staff uniforms using recycled materials, supporting the circular economy.

REDUCED FOOD WASTE

We will expand the use of AI in more hotels to improve food planning and reduce waste.

Social
commitment

EXPANDED COMMUNITY PROJECTS

We will continue working with local foundations to develop new job placement and social support initiatives.
