The hotel staff make your holiday The buffet restaurant is very good all be it very noisy , the outside area is more relaxed , sloppy dress codes let the down the dining experience , the specialist restaurants are average , again the staff make the experience We Had Gaudi breakfast a number of times which was excellent Cleanliness is of a high standard and areas are kept in good order , the main pool area is tired and this is to be refurbished this year we were informed Frustrating that despite notices sunbed are still reserved by guests , we witnessed several covered by towels and not occupied until late afternoon Evening entertainment is good Hotel is located in a quiet area and only a twenty minuate walk to the main promenade of Meloneras Bedrooms have had a refurbishment but clearly the bathroom sinks are original and worn Turn down service was sporadic Overall a really relaxing break

We had Privilege passes for our family and we had a fantastic experience and would love to go back. Great hotel and facilities. Excellent food in everywhere. Clean and top notch. This was our first stay, we meet people there who enjoyed the 30th stay!!!

The hotel has a very interesting and attractive main building shaped like a plant or shell, with other buildings connected by corridors and walkways. It is built into a hill with Reception, one side, being on level 6 and the gate to the promenade, the other side, on level. We were given an excellent welcome by a charming lady called (Rom?????) I am sorry but I didn't make a note of her name. A porter then took our cases and showed us the, initially confusing, route to our room, 222, on level 4. The room was lovely, very comfortable and with a large walk in shower room. We arrived in the dark so didn't notice that it didn't have what I would describe as a "sea or pool view". Yes, we could just about see the sea but the main outlook was of buildings on the other side of the road. The main restaurant is large and modern with the usual buffet layout and a 'plancha' cooking place and, although the food was ok, there was nothing to impress us. One of my favourite dishes in Spain is "chulettas de cordero" which was offered 3 or 4 times, but the meat was tough and bland. The 'chef salads' were very interesting and tasty. Our 'special meal' in the Brasserie a la carte restaurant was particularly disappointing with both my steak and my wife's pork mains being tough. The extensive main pool area seemed to offer at least 20% more sun loungers than required (great) and a good number of large, comfortable, 'day beds' (even better) with no need to go out early and reserve. We were 'all inclusive plus' with blue wrist bands and, whilst there was never a problem being served, sometimes the staff scanned our wristband and sometimes not; nobody could convince me of why? One really pleasant surprise is that the room key is within the wrist band. Drinks were very good with the 'normal' brandy being Carlos 111. A major positive for us were the staff, pretty well all of whom were friendly, helpful and welcoming. It's not really fair to single out individuals but two people stood out for us; Anaysa in the restaurant and Antonio Ramos in several bars, muchas gracias to you both. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this H10 and would certainly like to return.

We are a retired couple, looking for sunshine and relaxation for 10 days at the end of a cold and wet winter. At the beginning of March Gran Canaria is an ideal location and the Privilege half-board package at the Meloneras Palace included all the facilities we require good central facilities, a spacious double room with a balcony overlooking the sea, and evening meals in any of the 4 speciality restaurants. The central building is architecturally striking, with plenty of space housing lounges, reception, bars, event spaces, reception, the main buffet restaurant, and 3 of the speciality restaurants. Our room was well-designed with everything we needed, the air conditioning was quiet and effective, the Wifi signal was good, the sun was on the balcony from mid-afternoon. House-keeping was as expected, with bedding and towels changed when requested. The speciality restaurants have diverse regular menus, with additional specials each evening. Apart from our first evening, when we had dinner in the buffet restaurant, we were able to book a table in one or other of the 3 speciality restaurants that interested us at a time that suited us. We particularly enjoyed the Gaudi restaurant for Privilege guests. Staff everywhere were pleasant, competent, and helpful. There were, however, some downsides. The main attraction in the area in the beach and dunes at Maspalomas. There is an excellent promenade running along the sea front from Meloneras to the Maspalomas Faro, which is close to the beach. The hotel website says that it is 1.5km to the beach, but Google Maps makes it 2.3km and in reality it is a good half-hours walk. Only then do you get to the walk along the beach itself. The same is true, of course, in reverse. To be fair, there were taxis available at both ends on a sunny day. But the walk back does seem quite long on a sunny afternoon with the temperature around 30C. If you want to spend time walking on the Maspalomas beach the hotels location is not ideal. The hotel itself is also spread out over a considerable area. The main lifts are in the central section, the rooms mostly in long wings off it. Our room was about 100 paces from the lift. Getting from one place to another, for example from our room to The Brasserie restaurant near the main pool, was quite time consuming. If mobility is a problem you would be well advised to ask for a room that is close to the lifts. We chose to have breakfast in the buffet restaurant. Supplies were, of course, replenished, but not always before some surprisingly basic items, for example orange juice and butter, had run out. The same went for bowls for cereal and fruit, and, as staff were resetting tables there seemed to be shortages of cups and some cutlery. We could always get what we wanted, but we were not impressed by the buffet restaurant, which we note is to be closed for renovation shortly and may well be improved. We had several minor technical issues, all of which were dealt with promptly and efficiently through reception: a towel rack which was detached from the shower cabinet wall; a safe which closed, and more worryingly opened, only intermittently; wrist bands which stopped operating after check-out time on day 7 when we were booked for 10. And finally, when we asked for a late check-out (by 1 hour) on our final day we were told it was not possible. A request for a late check-out could not be submitted until 8.30am on the day of departure, and presumably our room had already been allocated to someone who was expected to check-in promptly in the afternoon. Another Canaries hotel in the H10 group (Timanfaya in Lanzarote) had always asked for our expected check-out time a day in advance, presumably so that arrivals could be allocated to rooms that were available, and late check-outs could be arranged for the convenience of their guests. That is not the system at the Meloneras Palace.
