H10 Costa Mogán, Gran Canaria

Lovely stay, but some rude staff!

Great hotel. Lovely sea view room. Clean and modern. Good selection of food although sometimes lukewarm. Lovely entertainment staff. Great fitness classes, aqua aerobics and Pilates. Restaurant staff were not friendly. Every request felt like you were inconveniencing them. The service from bar/restaurant staff is the only thing that let this hotel down! However, would visit again.

Great hotel chain, fab place

H10 is a great hotel chain, and Costa Mogan was great too. Fab place, fab service, fab value, thoroughly recommend

Relax and rewind.

Just back from a weeks stay at this hotel and had a great time- good for relaxation and chilling. The hotel is clean and tidy and most staff are approachable, with some being not so helpful ( breakfast staff and reception). Top ups of water, tea and coffee for the tea tray in the room are charged 1.85 per day so bring your own and get your own water from the small shop on site. We booked B&B but reception is keen to upgrade you to HB or AI (at a price) which we did not choose and set up our own tab as you cannot pay as you go- we were often charged different amounts for exactly the same drinks ( prices were often not wrote on the tab for you to sign or a receipt given). Admittedly there was only a few cents difference at the end of the week. Personally I think the hotel is geared for the former and not the latter and staff constantly look for a wrist band so much so we were asked which room we were in by a waitress when choosing our food at breakfast- not ideal with a room full of other diners and no other diner was asked. If this is an issue concierge should be at breakfast reception asking all diners their room number as is the case at other hotels we have stayed at across the world. We had a late check out so wished to keep our room for an extra few hours albeit we had to wait for the morning of our departure before a decision was made this was granted for a 35 charge- worth it in our opinion as they do not offer any shower facilities or a courtesy room. this is worth considering before booking H10 if its important to you and you have a late flight. The hotel is in a quiet area (Playa del Cura) close to a very small stretch of sand and a promenade that leads to no where (closed at each end). Good bus links and taxis close by and enough places to eat for 7 nights- food was good at all restaurants we ate at Delicias, GranTorro, Ole and Old Brogue. Visit Puerto de Mogan lovely, lively port.we used the taxis approx 17 each way worth it to get there quickly.

Didnt want to leave!

Had a great week at the H10 Costa Mogan. I have to admit I was a bit anxious after some of the reviews, but it was fabulous and Ive booked to go back in February. I asked in advance for a high floor and we were given room 4037 which had lovely views of the pool and the sea. It is literally on a dark sand beach where sunbeds can be reserved for 3.50. We only stayed b&b because I like to go out and about in the day and try different places/restaurants in the evening, but the breakfast offering was very good. My sister particularly enjoyed the omelettes! Our room was cleaned every day and our towels replaced and beds changed despite us only being there for a week. The staff were friendly and I didnt encounter any queuing at the pool bar or much of a wait in an evening either. We didnt really see much of the entertainment but did catch a Beatles tribute who were very good. You can get to Puerto de Mogan in about 10 minutes in a taxi for around 17 and to Amadores in 5 for 7. We also walked along the beach to Amadores which is about a mile - easier if its low tide as less rock scrambling required!! Finally I have to mention Alberto on reception. All the reception team were nice enough but Alberto went the extra mile, even recommending to us a restaurant in Puerto de Mogan which was so good we went back for lunch. As an H10 regular (and Grand Class member) there were a couple of little quirks - for example a note saying I couldnt charge anything else to the room as I was nearing 100 limit; fortunately I saw that note before I was embarrassed at the bar. I think this could be better publicised for b&b guests (and I also didnt get any points when I settled up). I also paid 35 for a late check out which Grand Class members generally get for free (I certainly never pay the fees in Lanzarote) but neither of these things affected our stay. I would say there isnt much for children here (and think it might be going adults only in the near future) but as someone who wanted to get away from it all for a week in a new place, this hotel really hit the spot for me and neither of us wanted to leave!
