Reviews

Lovely small resort

josephtE3773GV

A lovely resort. Firstly, the staff could not be friendlier or kinder. Particular shout out and thanks to the lovely black haired gentleman at the pool bar but everyone was really so nice to us. Next up the food is really delicious. Varied and tasty with a good choice of different options each day. Sushi to burgers to pizza. Really nice. The furnishings of the hotel and room in particular are lovely. Modern but comforting and so so clean. The hotel is literally spotless - a really welcome feature. It feels very premium and little extras like a glass of fizz on check in was particularly lovely. A beautiful view of the mountains and the sea from the pool area was lovely too. This is a small resort but we had a more than lovely time during the week we spent here. A few things would make it a 5 though - more varied cocktail choices and more staff on bars during the day and the evening. I appreciate we were here in off season but this would reduce waiting times which were sometimes a bit long in the evening. The sun loungers could also be a bit more premium as could the towels in the bed room. Finally the entertainment was average at best and VERY loud. It made it difficult to get an early night if you didnt bring your ear plugs (we did!) and it didnt run to time at all - on one night the final set started at the time the whole act was meant to finish. Overall though a really lovely place which represented great value for money and somewhere I wouldnt hesitate to recommend if you want a chilled week in the sunshine. A few tweaks outlined above and this would be 5*.

A relaxing week in a wonderful hotel

Ida Johanne D

Stayed for a week at this wonderful hotel in March and had a great experience. We booked the Privilege service and were given a nice, spacious room on the 4th floor with a beautiful ocean view. The room included bathroom amenities and a coffeemaker, which was a nice touch. All meals and drinks were also included. For dinner we could choose between the buffet restaurant and the la carte restaurant, and both were excellent not only the food but also the service. The buffets were always fresh and offered a great variety for all meals. The la carte restaurant is small and has a cozy, intimate atmosphere. Toni and Juan Manuel made us feel incredibly welcome and treated us like the most important guests in the world. The Privilege service also gave us access to the Riviera Beach Club, which was a quiet little oasis. There was always a sunbed available for us, and it was a perfect place to relax. The only small downside was that the evening shows were held outside and were quite loud, which made it difficult to fall asleep before they finished. However, they never lasted later than 10:30 pm. We would definitely love to come back!

Didnt want to leave!

Had a great week at the H10 Costa Mogan. I have to admit I was a bit anxious after some of the reviews, but it was fabulous and Ive booked to go back in February. I asked in advance for a high floor and we were given room 4037 which had lovely views of the pool and the sea. It is literally on a dark sand beach where sunbeds can be reserved for 3.50. We only stayed b&b because I like to go out and about in the day and try different places/restaurants in the evening, but the breakfast offering was very good. My sister particularly enjoyed the omelettes! Our room was cleaned every day and our towels replaced and beds changed despite us only being there for a week. The staff were friendly and I didnt encounter any queuing at the pool bar or much of a wait in an evening either. We didnt really see much of the entertainment but did catch a Beatles tribute who were very good. You can get to Puerto de Mogan in about 10 minutes in a taxi for around 17 and to Amadores in 5 for 7. We also walked along the beach to Amadores which is about a mile - easier if its low tide as less rock scrambling required!! Finally I have to mention Alberto on reception. All the reception team were nice enough but Alberto went the extra mile, even recommending to us a restaurant in Puerto de Mogan which was so good we went back for lunch. As an H10 regular (and Grand Class member) there were a couple of little quirks - for example a note saying I couldnt charge anything else to the room as I was nearing 100 limit; fortunately I saw that note before I was embarrassed at the bar. I think this could be better publicised for b&b guests (and I also didnt get any points when I settled up). I also paid 35 for a late check out which Grand Class members generally get for free (I certainly never pay the fees in Lanzarote) but neither of these things affected our stay. I would say there isnt much for children here (and think it might be going adults only in the near future) but as someone who wanted to get away from it all for a week in a new place, this hotel really hit the spot for me and neither of us wanted to leave!

Nice Hotel but ugly reception service!

Pauline E

Just back from H10 Costa Morgan. All in all a nice place. As a mature couple we did not want a busy area and for us the quietness of the location worked well. As has been said there are many buses and taxis to take you to lively towns very close by if you seek a bit more action. The beach although not particularly smart was comfortable and very close to the hotel, you could hire sunbeds/parasols if required. The sea is lovely and big waves crash onto the beach. We had a suite which was comfortable but had a few issues. Personally we did not like the bathroom being incorporated into the bedroom area, especially as the sliding door to the loo did not close properly because of shoddy workmanship. Now onto the food! The food in the main restaurant is very good, nice variety and the staff work hard. However beware of the only other eating place in the hotel, built up as a 'special experience' Costa Fusion. This is a pathetic attempt at fine dining which is a massive disappointment. So bad we had to walk out. The waiter forgot our two small first courses, we then decided to order a bottle of wine to try and improve the dining experience but where then served with a kind of croquet that was still frozen in the middle! That was the final straw, we told the waiter we were leaving and he told us he would not charge us for the wine. We left. We stayed 9 days and are considering a return as the quieter ambience of the hotel suited us. Sadly on our day of departure a member of the reception team, Mr Christian, was very unfriendly and unhelpful to us. He produced the bill for the wine we had at the Costa Fusion restaurant and accused us of not for paying it , as if we were thieves, when it had in fact been offered to us due to the dreadful experience we had there. Our departure was not until half past six and we wanted to pay for a late checkout. He only offered us a two hour extension and that was done in a most unfriendly manner which of course we had to pay for! The final straw was when Mr Christian advised us that we would have to pay for our lunch on the day of our departure? We were fully inclusive and stayed 9 nights, having only arrived at midnight of our first day it hardly seemed correct that we were to be charged for lunch? I would advise anyone thinking of staying at Costa Morgan to confirm the eating arrangements on the last day, as this hotel may not be as 'inclusive' and friendly as you think! Good luck!
