We have just returned from our holiday to the H10 Conquistador on July 9th and cannot praise this hotel enough, this was our second visit to it.
In total their were five of us, me, my wife ,son, grandson (17) and granddaughter (14). If I am honest the holiday did not get off to a great start as we were all pretty underwhelmed by the two rooms we were allocated. I realise these are classed as 'standard' rooms but in a hotel like this even a standard room should be of a certain level.
My wife and I went to reception to say we were very grateful for the champagne in our room to celebrate our 43rd Anniversary but we were really disappointed by the two rooms we were given.
The lady on the reception (Sandrine) listened to our issues and said she would speak to her manager (Rafael) and see what could be done as the hotel was very busy.
Bottom line is Sandrine went up to view a couple of other rooms that had been vacated that day and that we could maybe move to, Sandrine asked us to look at them and see if we were ok with them. These two rooms we were offered were excellent, everything about them was spot on and we were very pleased with them.
Rafael the hotel manager then came in to our new room and apologised for the standard of room we were initially given and this was very much appreciated by us. The way this was handled by both Sandrine and Rafael was first class, we were even given complimentary safes for the two rooms. Without a doubt this room change made our stay so much more enjoyable and we thank everyone at the Conquistador (even the maids were first class) for their help on resolving this matter, but special thanks to Sandrine and Rafael.
The Conquistador hits the mark in everything it does, The food is superb, the choice is unbelievable and the waiting staff are very manner able and efficient. We went all inclusive and would definitely do so again. The wearing of 'dress' shorts' is permitted in the main restaurants which I think is sensible given the temperatures. The pool bar and drinks truck up at the infinity pool was always well visited on a daily basis, get Pedro in the truck speaking about Real Madrid and you will be there all day :-).
The entertainment team work tirelessly for all ages and my son (Mark aka John McGinn)!! and grandson (Aaron) loved the darts, pool, table tennis, water polo and the Dutch sliding-board game, how Max remembered everyone's names is a complete mystery to me, but was very impressive !
The nightly entertainment was very good and I have to mention the four male soul-singers who were called 'Diamonds' (I think) these boys were fantastic at the acts they covered, the place was jumping.
Towels can be hired for 15 euro's per towel (this is returned when you hand them back) and can be changed for a modest charge of 1 euro per changed towel, an absolute no brainer for us.
I was one of those sad people who went down at 7.45am to join the queue to book a sun-bed (x 5), if you are doing this, the pool area opens at 8am and as long as at least one person stays with the beds until 9am there is no problem, but if you leave the beds unattended before 9am your towels will be lifted and your beds might be (rightly) taken by someone else. After 9am the pool area is more relaxed and being honest there are plenty of sun-beds to go around, we were guilty of wanting the same spot each day, hence why I queued.
On this point, a special mention has to go out to the pool attendant, our new bestest-friend, Pedro No 2 (the young one) !. I got speaking to Pedro about Spain's chances in the Euro's and every day thereafter was a 'football lesson chat' day, him about Barcelona to me and me about Dundee United to him (played 4, won 4 Pedro) :-) !! He is a class act and I really hope we see him if we return (as we plan to) same time, next year. He has asked, if possible for a Dundee United T-shirt and I will oblige, we need all the support we can get :-)
To summarise this review, this hotel, the H10 Conquistador, is absolute class as are the entire team of staff within it, the amount of people we met who said they will return next speaks volumes and we personally cannot wait. I know our son (Mark, ...John McGinn) !! made a couple of very good friends that he will keep in touch with and things like that make a holiday just that wee bit more special and enjoyable. A wee bit of banter about the football and a wee bit of competitiveness at the darts is all good :-)
One thing we said we would like to see in place is a 'tips jar', we felt really bad as we found it almost impossible to tip every member of staff that served us as you rarely get the same one each night and a 'central tips jar' could be positioned somewhere maybe outside the main restaurant in which people could show their appreciation for all of the staff and the tips could then be divided up evenly between every member of staff maybe monthly or even six monthly. These staff members work their socks off for us and as such should be rewarded if the guests wish to do so.
Thank you H10 Conquistador and we all hope to see you all soon.
