H10 Big Sur, Tenerife

A return visit to the Big Sur. We stayed for 9 nights half board in a sea view room. No problems at all. As already mentioned by other reviewers, great location, good views, tasty and varied food. We prefer to use the chill out zone so cannot comment on the availability of sunbeds at 9.30 am around the pool area. The staff were friendly and professional. Good to see that Blackie, the hotel cat, was still in residence,as vigilant as ever. Already looking forward to next year's visit.

As ever, an extremely enjoyable stay. Friendly and professional staff on reception. Pleasant and cheerful waiters in restaurant. Our room on the 7th floor was kept spotlessly clean by our friendly housekeeping lady. Many other reviews have already described the location and nearby amenities. Our Seaview room had great views and the chill out area is wonderful. No real quibbles - perhaps change the muesli brand to one which does not contain chocolate. Otherwise really good food. Already looking forward to next year.

Just back from a short, recently booked 4night stay that we got a good deal on around the UK Bank Holiday weekend. On arrival, we were dropped off at the hotel entrance on the main road to negotiate a steep(ish) decent to the hotel front door. Reception is small but nice with good seating, checked in quickly and given a Bucks Fizz as a welcome refreshment. Wristbands provided and these open your room door, it worked quite well and actually probably better than having cards that always seem to stop working when near mobile phones/devices. Our room was on the 6th floor, lifts are slow and quite small so no more room when 2 people are in them with suitcases. You can find yourself waiting when trying to get the lifts at busy times eg breakfast or dinner. We had a sea view room with two single beds pushed together, small balcony, toilet with shower and toiletries that mean you dont need to take any with you e.g. shampoo, shower gel, conditioner. Towels and robes provided, towels were some of the largest Ive had on a HB holiday. Storage was fine with mini bar stocked. This makes it difficult to store any of your own purchased drinks and the hotel wouldnt empty this for us prior to arrival. Weve read reviews of others being charged on emptying it so you need to be careful. Plenty pillows on bed so youd be hard pushed not to get something to suit you, mattress is firm but both us slept well during our stay. Aircon worked fine and we didnt move it much at all. Restaurant is quite small with not a huge choice but its varied enough that you need to be really picky not to find something you could eat. If you do, you really shouldnt be choosing a HB hotel and be eating out. Plenty meats also being freshly cooked, which was my choice each night coupled with rice, potato, chips, salads, etc. Drinks are reasonably priced and competitive to what youd normally pay in these types of hotels. Breakfast again were standard with coffee, teas, fruit juice, cereals, fruit, fried breakfast type options and eggs cooked fresh for you e.g. omelettes, fried eggs (which you can ask to be flipped if you want them cooked more) and back bacon is available. During breakfast, we watched the queue forming for the sun beds at the pool as that opens after 9am, I think its 9.30. Then theres the mad rush for those wanting their peak position for sunbathing. Not for me so we went to the chill out zone on 8th floor / roof. Available on both sides, only one has a spa jacuzzi to provide a cooling dip should you need it. Beds up there were padded in comparison to those at the pool, very comfy but it was busier as our 4nights were coming to an end. Plenty restaurants and supermarkets within a short walking distance if you want to treat yourself, go out the promenade exit, its flatter walking area, you get a wristband that operates the doors. The supermarket closest has 1.5l bottles of water at <1, 1l beer at 2, cava at 3 - 15 depending on how extravagant you want to be. We previously stayed at Gran Arona thats just along the coast to Big Sur so we were familiar with the locale. Its Up experience on the roof top is on a whole different level to this hotel, however, you pay for it and the upgrade cost for that is now ridiculous levels. Would I return here? Yes if the price was right but I wouldnt stay for more than a week. Its not a reflection of the hotel but where it is and the boutique style isnt for us for 2weeks and the small pool area with the beds queueing is definitely not for me.

Superb stay. Gluten Free heaven. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble if you needed something. The age demographic of this adult only hotel leans towards the older holiday maker but has its benefits. No noisy late night revellers or inappropriate behaviour which lends itself to a stress free relaxing atmosphere. Wonderful warm greeting from Elena receptionist. Offered bubbly on arrival. Rooms are compact but perfectly formed and more than adequate. Good wardrobe and drawer storage. Coffee pod machine in room but we were offered a kettle because we preferred tea. Adequately stocked mini bar. Beds comfortable with large selection of pillows. Bathroom had large walk in shower and large vanity unit with plenty of drawer space perfect for 2 people sharing avoids clutter. The rooms and hotel were spotlessly clean. You do have to pay for safe deposit but this is common in most hotels these days. The lounge downstairs was comfortable and both bars were welcoming and well stocked. Usual entertainment programme most nights for those who dont want to go out. Pool and pool area very tranquil plenty of sunbeds and area is spotlessly clean. The hotel is towards one end of the promenade and it is only a short walk along the seafront until you come to a wide range of bars/ restaurants most of which have some form of entertainment. The hotels situation is perfect. Unless your very fit Los Americas is a very long walk along the prom so would suggest a taxi or bus one way and walk back. We enjoyed meandering around the Old Town and visiting the various shopping complexes dotted along the prom. Lots of pleasant walks. If you wanted to visit one of the nearby islands ferry port in easy walking distance of the hotel. There is a twice weekly market Tuesdays and Sundays a short walk from hotel but it is smaller than many of the Spanish markets. Lots of cheap bags and clothing. Finally I must highly commend the hotel on their staff but particularly the restaurant staff and also the variety and imaginative cuisine offered. As gluten free diners we are always concerned about incorrect information but it was quite clear that Pascal and Anya the Managers were informed about gluten content of all dishes. We were nightly taken round each food station starters, salads, mains etc., and briefed on what was gluten free. We had a choice of deserts each night which is unheard of in any other hotel weve stayed in. We could relax and enjoy the food. It was heaven and we of course ate too much as our waistbands evidenced. We will book again for a Spring break in 2026.
