H10 Big Sur, Tenerife

This was our first time to Tenerife and H10 hotels , so didn't know what to expect. We were met by the friendliest most efficient staff as soon as we arrived who very quickly appeared with a complementary drink each. Very thorough check in which was really quick. We were given a room on the 6th floor with a sea view. The only down points with the room were the absence of USB points and a noisy door to the balcony. Everything else was as you would expect of a 4 star hotel. The peace and tranquillity of the room was out of this world with the only real external noise coming from the ferries sounding their whistles arriving and leaving, other than that it was exceptionally quiet. A very bright and welcoming reception with loads of seating was a good thing as was the cat which just wandered about not bothering with anyone. He looked quite elderly. The reception faced the main dining room. The buffet meal had ample choice of food , some cooked as you waited. again plenty of seating both internal and external. The staff here were very attentive and quick to take drink orders for the evening meal. We had a 6 1/2 hour wait for our airport transfer , and when we enquired about a luggage store, the gentleman on reception could not have been any more helpful. He offered us the use of a spare room behind the reception for 30 minutes for free to allow us to shower and change. A very thoughtful thing to do. Luggage was stored in a locked store facing the reception. I must be honest and say that the hotel is starting to look a bit tired on the outside and internally with chipped paint visible but my main grumble concerned the two lifts. Both were terribly slow and tiny. Even though they have signs saying 6 maximum capacity, you would be hard pushed getting four people in. As it was when we had our luggage arriving and departing, there was no room for anyone apart from us. The cleanliness of the hotel and pool area was excellent. Well done to all of the staff , for their professionalism and friendliness.

We love Big Sur, its like a second home to us. The team of staff are absolutely at the core of this. The hotel is absolutely great. Its well established and really homely. From the arrival welcome to the check out good bye, its just a nice place to be. When you arrive youll be greeted by a warm and friendly concierge wholl bring you a chilled Bucks Fizz, always lovely after the journey. The reception staff will get you checked in efficiently and explain all you need to know about the hotel. If youre lucky, you may have a personal welcome from Blacky, the resident cat. Hes old now and were really hoping hes still there when we return in July. Up to the room. Theyre not the lap of luxury but theyre perfectly functional, immaculately clean and very comfortable. Proper Nespresso coffee machine and a mini bar, complimentary bottled water - everything you need. We always elect for half board. The evening food will never win any awards but its fresh, tasty and plentiful. Theres something for everyone. They have show cooking with a different theme most evenings - think Italian, Mexican, Oriental. All ok. For those with a more discerning palate, there a gazillion choices of restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets right on your doorstep. Breakfast is perfectly adequate with a good range of everything youd expect. And the odd cutveball (braised red cabbage) that you font lol. The location is fantastic tucked down towards the end of the promenade but only a short stroll into the centre of Los Cristianos. The fact that every time we visit we see return visitors every time, that tells you all you need to know. So, the welcome, the rooms, the location - theyre all on point however, the real draw to this hotel is the amazing team of staff. Start to finish, maintenance to management - theyre all just perfect. Some notable standouts are Jose and Kenneth in the restaurant but the real star for us is Sonia in housekeeping (floor 5 is her patch). Shes simply lovely. Happy, singing, personable and she keeps her floor in absolutely pristine condition. Please management, pass on our thanks. But the rest of the team are also A1 So, would we recommend - heck yeah. Its one of our favourite places to be in the world. Were back in July and we already cant wait.

Superb stay. Gluten Free heaven. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble if you needed something. The age demographic of this adult only hotel leans towards the older holiday maker but has its benefits. No noisy late night revellers or inappropriate behaviour which lends itself to a stress free relaxing atmosphere. Wonderful warm greeting from Elena receptionist. Offered bubbly on arrival. Rooms are compact but perfectly formed and more than adequate. Good wardrobe and drawer storage. Coffee pod machine in room but we were offered a kettle because we preferred tea. Adequately stocked mini bar. Beds comfortable with large selection of pillows. Bathroom had large walk in shower and large vanity unit with plenty of drawer space perfect for 2 people sharing avoids clutter. The rooms and hotel were spotlessly clean. You do have to pay for safe deposit but this is common in most hotels these days. The lounge downstairs was comfortable and both bars were welcoming and well stocked. Usual entertainment programme most nights for those who dont want to go out. Pool and pool area very tranquil plenty of sunbeds and area is spotlessly clean. The hotel is towards one end of the promenade and it is only a short walk along the seafront until you come to a wide range of bars/ restaurants most of which have some form of entertainment. The hotels situation is perfect. Unless your very fit Los Americas is a very long walk along the prom so would suggest a taxi or bus one way and walk back. We enjoyed meandering around the Old Town and visiting the various shopping complexes dotted along the prom. Lots of pleasant walks. If you wanted to visit one of the nearby islands ferry port in easy walking distance of the hotel. There is a twice weekly market Tuesdays and Sundays a short walk from hotel but it is smaller than many of the Spanish markets. Lots of cheap bags and clothing. Finally I must highly commend the hotel on their staff but particularly the restaurant staff and also the variety and imaginative cuisine offered. As gluten free diners we are always concerned about incorrect information but it was quite clear that Pascal and Anya the Managers were informed about gluten content of all dishes. We were nightly taken round each food station starters, salads, mains etc., and briefed on what was gluten free. We had a choice of deserts each night which is unheard of in any other hotel weve stayed in. We could relax and enjoy the food. It was heaven and we of course ate too much as our waistbands evidenced. We will book again for a Spring break in 2026.

The coach drops you a short walk from the hotel entrance, as the entrance isn't big enough for the coach, this wasn't an big issue, just to make you aware if you are any mobility issues. You will have to be in the same place when you are collected and not in the hotel lobby, something to bare in mind. Arrived at the hotel to a warm welcome and a cold glass of cava, check-in was quick. Our bedroom was ready which was a bonus. We had booked a front facing balcony room on the fifth floor. Had a great view of the passers-by and the sea. The hotel was room was great, beds were really comfortable. The balcony has two chairs and a table. The little extras - Nespresso machine and pods that were replenished daily, along with a couple of biscuits and 2 bottled waters. The cups were on the small side, so we asked one of the housekeepers and she provided 2 larger cups. The daily cleaning was to a high standard and we accordingly left a good tip. Wish we had tipped daily, as there were different housekeepers every day, will remember this for our next visit. We were provided with two good quality towels, which could be changed when necessary around the pool. The pool area was opened daily at 9.30 am. Some people chose to queue to get a 'particular spot', we didn't feel the need as there was always lots of beds available and this is one of the reasons we chose this hotel, not getting stressed about getting a bed, you are on holiday and deserve for it to be stress free. There are also two small roof top terraces, we only used one of these on the last day, to give it a go. The were very clean and there was a shower if you wanted to refresh yourself. The beds on the sun deck had thick cushions and there were also full sized beds there too .... it does get hot up there as you can't feel any breeze. We are not fussy eaters and always found there was plenty of choice, the staff were in the main very polite and friendly. I'm sorry to say there was an exception to this. The breakfast manager in the restaurant was bordering on being rude, he stomped around, never smiled, barked orders ... so much so I mentioned it to the lady that took your room details in the evening, she did say she would pass my concerns onto management. The breakfast manager became a talking point amongst quite a number of guests on how rude he was. Such a shame as the evening restaurant manager was the polar opposite and couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. The entertainment was varied, some acts were better than others, the entertainment usually started about 9.15 ... some nights it was on till 10pm and other nights till 10.15. Shame it doesn't start a little earlier. The bar prices are a little more than local bars, but not expensive for a hotel. It was nice to have an afternoon drink and be in the cool in the open bar area/terrace. The foyer always smelt lovely. Found the reception staff to always be helpful. I reported a plug in the bedroom wasn't working and it was repair within the day. There is a local market on twice a week and it is literally within 5 minutes of the hotel. The hotel is central for lots of walks and shops/bars. Would I go back, in a HEART BEAT ... look forward to a return visit in 2024. TIPS - If your budget allows book a balcony. Enjoy the restaurant terrace, lovely to be eating outside. You can enjoy a free coffee and one cake (you will have to share) at Mike's within the hotel, this is every day I think its 4-5pm, then there is happy hour in the same place, only downside to this ... there isn't much outdoor seating and its mainly in the sun and boy does it get hot while you are sat there. There is a small pool table and table tennis table at the side of the pool for a small fee. There was exercise in the pool most days provided by an external company, it was good to watch them all :-) ...
