London: big, vibrant and diverse

London

London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the banks of the river Thames, in the south east of Great Britain, it was founded some two thousand years ago, on the year by the Romans, who named it Londinium. The heart of the city, old London Town, still has its medieval limits, but since the 19th Century at least the name "London" has also been used to refer to the metropolis that has grown around it.

Climate

Weather in London is very variable throughout the day. Although extreme temperatures are not usual, it is not uncommon to see clouds, rain, cold and even sun and heat in the same day. It rains frequently all year round. The warmest months are July and August, with an average temperature of 17ºC.
