La Palma, whose historic name is San Miguel de La Palma, is an island in the Atlantic ocean belonging to the Canary Islands archipelago (Spain). It belongs to the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, its capital is Santa Cruz de la Palma, and the island's most populated municipality is Los Llanos de Aridane. The whole island was declared a Biosphere Reserve in 2002, making it the archipelago's third island, after La Gomera and El Hierro, to be recognised by the UNESCO.
The island of La Palma is famous for its excellent climate. With a mean temperature of 20º C, never above 26º C or below 16º C, the island of La Palma is characterised by a pleasant climate all year round.
