Reviews
Lovely hotel and very much enjoyed
gingerfurz

Lovely hotel and very much enjoyed. We stayed here late March 2024. Overall the hotel is great, it has a lot to offer for families of all ages. We travelled with our parents and so we had ages from 4 up to 76. Everyone enjoyed the hotel. The Pros... Restaurants are great, there is a large selection on offer in the buffet restaurants from breakfast through to dinner, we were halfboard so liked to venture outside in the day to try other places/areas when we could. The pool areas when we were there always felt like there was plenty of sunbeds and thankfully no one putting their towel out at the crack of dawn to reserve sunbeds (from what I saw). With 5 pools there was something for everyone, although most seemed to be around the heated pools (kids and salt water one near the main pool). Kids pool was great too and our kids loved it. Kids club - This was brilliant. We don't push our kids to do it, but our eldest wanted to join in the games and you could jump in and out almost by the hour which suited us and her. She made some good friends too and they would all play in the evening at the kids disco after dinner. As its a large hotel, it didn't feel busy when we were there. The Cons... (for us) The hotel felt tired in places (but not dreadful) just small areas. Our block needing updating, with paint chipping off tiles when you arrived at the block, lighting and our bathroom, but not enough to kick up a fuss about - unlike other reviews, I expected a few small downsides based on the price of the hotel versus others with the same star rating, in general we were happy. I just think their are small fixes that could be easily made to the hotel to bring it up to date. The Piano bar, this is a great area for a drink, if you can get one. The service is pretty slow/poor here. You can't order at the bar so its table service but it's also hard to get the attention of the waiters. We went for drinks here twice and then gave up after having the same experience (and others mentioning it too). We opted for the sports bar (which if you are not into sports or think of typical sports bars - it isn't). It was quiet every night and nice to sit outside of and have a drink after dinner. If you aren't a good walker or struggle to get about, it is a large hotel and there isn't really anything close by. We walked in to the centre of Playa Blanca which was a nice walk but my in-laws got a taxis (it's about 1.5km to the centre). Overall, we enjoyed our stay and my in-laws said they would be back which for me is a good sign. Our kids loved it, and all the kids they played with (in the kids club and around the pool) seemed to love it too.

You have to go a long way to find a better hotel
allanbutc

So, my recent stay over Easter, was my 3rd visit to this hotel in the last 9 months. I find the hotel restful and totally ideal for a short break from the UK Winter/spring. I’ve written a review of this hotel on a previous stay, but wanted to add a few tips on this occasion for anyone thinking about staying at this wonderful resort. I travel independently to any travel companies. On arriving at Lanzarote Airport, I take the local bus to the hotel (total cost €4.70), not bad for an hour long trip along the coast. On checking in at reception, I’ve always been accommodated in a room in an area of the complex I prefer, having requested by email in advance. When staying, during the day, if it’s a day at the pool your looking for, you can either join the madding crowd around the main pool area which is huge, or choose to retreat to a quieter pool area at the other end of the resort. Even over the Easter weekend, sun-beds were plentiful, and remained that way throughout the day. The buffet restaurants were busy, but found if you choose to sit outside, there were lots of room and were more ‘serene’ !! If you’re looking for a more peaceful breakfast/dinner experience, the ‘Restaurante Tabaiba’ was the smaller of the two, and appeared to be a lot quieter, than the main restaurant (Janubio). On this occasion I only chose to eat just the once in an alacarte restaurant (steak house), which was fine once again. Again, if during the day your looking for a quieter afternoon/evening ‘snack’, Mikes coffee, and the Bistro are fabulous venues, for coffees, wine, cakes, and sandwiches etc etc Contrary to some reviews, I have always found the staff throughout most attentive and obliging, and offer me a service with a smile. I could go on and on about how good this resort is ….. as stated in my previous reviews I’ve stayed in many 5 star resorts around the world …. Many have commented this hotel doesn’t quite live up to a 5 star rating, and yes possibly in some areas there could be room for improvement, but as hotels go, it’s not far off it’s rating, and is excellent value for money, compared to other 5 star hotels. Maybe I’ve been lucky with my stays, but if your not looking to find fault in a holiday destination, this hotel is worth giving a go ??

Excellent Hotel Complex
AnnaandJohn

Very nice complex for a relaxing holiday. Very good position by the coastal promenade with a nice sea side walk into Playa Blanca or to the lighthouse. The rooms are nice and comfortable with good maid service. The hotel grounds and gardens are well looked after and a pleasure to walk around. Nice coffee shop. Excellent food and choice in the restaurant. Pick your time to avoid the popular rush, but always a seat. Nice to sit outside for breakfast. Good waiter service for drinks. All staff were very helpful and very friendly. Will definitely return.

Fantastic relaxed vibe hotel
T3432YMjan

Loved everything about this hotel - where do i start - i had upgraded to privelidge and from start to finish we had a 5* experience - personal check in - the room was lovely with a great sea view - clean and tidy everywhere, the food was very good in all the restaurants - was nice to have breakfast served every morning in the Volcan - the staff were super friendly in all the restaurants - pool area was clean and plenty of beds - the spa was wonderful - had a massage which was amazing - the privelidge bar was just spectacular with its views and loved the fact that the choice of alcohol was amazing - loved that you could serve yourself with whatever you wanted - In all if you want a really peaceful holiday with a chilled vibe - then this is a great hotel. You can walk into Playa Blanca on a lovely flat surface right next to the sea accessed directly from the hotel - you feel very safe there and the views are just wonderful - we will definately be booking again for next year - thank you H10 rubicon for a much needed relaxing holiday

Rubicon Palace Lanzarote Balance Review
jinxleprechaun

We have recently returned from a 14 night stay at Rubicon palace. This was not our first H10 hotel but it was our first visit to the Rubicon. The holiday did not go without some issues which needed a few frustrating visits to guest services to get sorted (Room location not as expected / Mini bar not being stocked). To be fair though once highlighted guest services did their best to rectify any issues as soon as possible and made small gestures to make amends for the hassle. The resort being so big it could take revisiting to ensure the action is followed up as sometimes the right hand does not know what the left is doing. This invariably involves walking 10 mins to reception each time. Can a telephone not be installed in each block to contact reception in the event of issues outside the room like door keys not working (This occurred approx. 4 times) The resort is quite big and accommodation spread out around the central building but we found this not to be a problem and it was easy to find your way around. The layout is very pretty and the resort looks fantastic, There are several pools and we found the general area to be well kept and clean. At the end of the day some debris does build up and can look untidy but that's people on holidays and when the pool areas are being cleaned the debris is tidied away. There are a lot of uneven and cracked tiles around the resort but there seems to be a rolling maintenance plan to repair them at random areas each day, perhaps to minimise disruption to guests in any one area at a time? Can be a bit annoying to hear the drill breaking up the old tiles but its a catch 22 situation and varying locations each day is probably the best that can be done. There are a variety of pools, all salt water and fairly cold, although after a few minutes the cold does not really be an issue. You can select small quiet pools or the main ones with most of the daily poolside entertainment. The Privilege pool is a nice quiet place but I cannot understand why the pool is so shallow. Its more akin to a children's pool and was not suitable for proper swimming in my opinion. And you would have to forgo the poolside Privilege services to switch to a deeper pool. Entertainment is provided for children and adults but we didn't go to many shows as on this break we just wanted a quiet relaxing retreat but it seemed to be very popular. The Dinner show was a nice distraction and we would recommend that. Piano bar is classy and comfortable with music but can get very busy with queues at the bar especially for cocktails. This could definitely be improved upon. The Privilege lounge area is a self service bar area where you can get away from the crowd and be guaranteed a seat when things get a little busier. Drinks menu online displays Imported Beers as an option but in reality there is only Estrella. Bit of a disappointment there :-( We had lunch at the buffet on one occasion and although the restaurant is clean and spacious we found flagging a waiter to order drinks more difficult that it ought to be and never managed to get them by the time our lunch was finished. Are there not enough waiters? Are they not attentive enough to see you are eating with no drinks? We are very down to earth people so its fair to say improvement is needed there. We had upgraded to Privilege and dined mostly at the Volcan restaurant where we can say the food was excellent, served in great surroundings by friendly attentive staff and in our opinion was probably worth the upgrade all by itself. We tried Sakura and Dolce Vitae speciality restaurants which we found good but again not nearly as good as Volcan. We avoided the Steakhouse based on a trend in past reviews of the resort so cannot comment on that one ,and this is perhaps a warning to management to realise that more people analyse trends in reviews to get the real picture and make travel decisions based on these. This brings me to the one thing that muddied the water for us the most during our stay. I'm seeing a trend in reviews that the staff in Mike's coffee shop and the Bistro can be rude and I can add to this from our personal experience. We acknowledge that service can be slower than at home and there is a hot weather factor there too but there are limits. The Bistro service was a little slow and not in order of guests arriving which can be a little irritating but not the end of the World. Mikes coffee shop however was a different story. We were ignored for over 20mins after we sat down and attempts to get the waiter's attention as he passed by were frustratingly constantly blanked. I went inside and asked why he wouldn't serve us and was abruptly confronted by the girl behind the counter who raised her voice and started admonishing in a raised voice for daring to ask such a thing. This was beyond rude, especially when she came around to our side of the counter to face off with me. We made a complaint to guest services but have no idea if it was followed up or not. This left us shaken and we did not revisit Mikes for the rest of the holiday, It certainly was a black mark on the resort and our holiday, and seeing as it appears not to be an isolated occurrence I'm concerned that management are not addressing the problem for some reason. I know management will thank us for our constructive feedback and highlight the positives and say they will strive to improve like the stock reply to almost all reviewers on this thread but I would like to see actual resolutions being put in place which seem to be lacking based on common trends and their continuing occurrences. (Mikes coffee shop for one) In general Rubicon Palace is a great family resort which looks beautiful and with plenty of things to do. the vast majority of staff are hard working and friendly and I would not hesitate to revisit although they need to be more proactive than reactive and put structures in place to make this happen. I do believe that the management structure genuinely wants this too and they do their best to sort things out as soon as possible.
